Nero Chemical Delivers Over 50% Cost Savings Across Three Wastewater Treatment Plants

From 2021 onwards, Nero Chemical Sdn Bhd was awarded a milestone wastewater treatment contract covering three treatment plants operated by a key manufacturing client, with daily treatment capacities of 800 m³/day1,200 m³/day, and 1,500 m³/day respectively.

 

These facilities were previously relying on a conventional multi-chemical treatment method involving up to five different chemical types. This approach not only led to high operational and environmental costs, but also resulted in large volumes of sludge requiring costly disposal.

 

๐Ÿงช Transition to Nero Specialty Chemical Program

Through in-depth system studies and jar testing, Nero Chemical introduced its specialty treatment method, replacing the conventional setup with a more optimized and performance-driven chemical solution. Despite the higher unit cost of Nero’s chemicals, the treatment program was specifically engineered to:

  • Reduce total chemical volume consumed

  • Lower sludge generation

  • Ensure full compliance with discharge parameters

  • Maintain stable treatment cost during production fluctuations

The implementation yielded outstanding cost-saving results:

  • Chemical usage volume reduced by up to 50%

  • Sludge volume reduced by approximately 70%

  • Overall monthly WWTP cost reduced by over 50%

  • Environmental management cost significantly lowered

 

The result: a consistent monthly cost below RM0.06 per unit output, despite variable influent flows (ranging from 8–10 m³/hour) and production conditions.

 

Most importantly, Nero’s solution delivered these savings without compromising on compliance, ensuring the treated wastewater met stringent discharge standards.
